Soft sofas. Warm tea. Real conversation. Amazing friends. True freedom.
These are a few of the things that come to mind when I think about The Healing Journey, or what we like to affectionately call, THJ. We’ve told you about THJ before, but now that our winter session has been completed, we wanted to highlight the story of a past THJ participant. She’s being bold to share her story and we’re so grateful for her bravery.
Before I went to THJ bible study I was broken…I carried the secret [of two past abortions] on my shoulders for over twenty years. During that time, I slowly became depressed, fearful, and suicidal. I had attempted ending my life numerous times, but God did not let me die, He had other plans for me. For a couple of years, I was asked if I wanted to join a post abortive Bible Study, but it didn’t seem relevant to me, since I already dealt with that—or so I thought! Didn’t know I was in denial and on the run from God….Oh, but one incredible day I finally went to The Healing Journey and God slowly changed my mind, heart, and my life for the better during these 9 weeks of ‘Surrendering the Secret.’ …[I saw through the study that] God loved me more than enough to help me to be free. Now I can walk in freedom, no more shame and guilt. I’m now able to share my story on how God turned my ashes into beauty…
I now have a peace to help other women experience the power of breaking their silence of their abortion. Transparency has become a brand new tool in my arsenal to keep the whispers of condemnation, lies, and intimidation far away. Instead, the truth shines bright and the reward is great—because I am finally embracing the truth that I have more children to hug when I will meet them in heaven for the first time.
If you or someone you know is struggling to come to terms with a past abortion decision, please see our website You can fill out an interest form or call our secure line, which will get you directly in touch with our THJ leader. Our next THJ session starts this summer. Don’t let any more time go by to experience the freedom that comes with speaking out.
We love you, and are here for you. You’re brave.
